1940s Lighting Ridge Oval Opal Ring

The mix of flash colours is really well balanced and mesmerising in this 1940s Lighting Ridge opal ring. The 1.90ct oval Opal sits beautifully in a minimalist four claw setting, and the setting is well balanced with a very slim band with single cut Diamonds set in white gold on the shoulders. This ring, simply put, is very elegant. The mount is handmade in 18ct yellow gold.

1940s:
During the 1940s, women’s clothing became more masculine with structured shoulders and nipped waists, so their jewellery became more feminine. Large brooches set with colourful jewels made their way into the spotlight and larger, more layered necklaces adorned the necks of most women who frequented lavish soirees. Larger rings with more angular cut stones were also popular and often incorporated the stepped shoulder design used during the Art Deco period that preceded it.
