Australian Art Nouveau Aquamarine and Pearl Necklace

Oh lala, just in, we have this absolutely gorgeous AUSTRALIAN Art Nouveau circa 1910 Aquamarine & Pearl necklet, signed by maker H. Simonsen Pty Ltd of Melbourne. Seven round cut aquamarine and six natural half pearls have been set scattered on a ‘swirl’ in yellow gold. Whilst the depiction is not exact, this cluster of gems displayed in this manner, the swirls feeling like they indicate movement or something astral, is reminiscent of the constellation Pleiades. The Pleiades is also known as the Seven Sisters, the number matching the number of aquamarines. We may not know what the maker’s inspiration was for this design, but we definitely feel it’s somewhere in the stars.
