1915 Spessartite Garnet and Diamond Trilogy Ring
Irene Byrne & Co

Spessartite Garnet is a stone that doesn’t get much attention, but how can you not give this vibrant natural orange colour, the attention it deserves.
Gem-quality stones of this orange colour are very rarely found and the deeper the hue of orange and brighter the stone, the rarer and more valuable they are.
This exquisite, fine example of a large stone, being 3.58ct has a glorious bright orange colour and fantastic clarity. Definitely a stone worth investing in. Set in a trilogy between two beautiful old European cut diamonds that total 1.50ct with a fantastic colour and clarity, this antique beauty dates back to the year 1915. If I was to invest in a piece that I love and it is sure to increase in value, this would be the one!

The Romance of Three-Stone Rings from 1915
Transitioning to the era of 1915, we find ourselves amidst a period marked by exquisite design and romantic symbolism. Three-stone rings from this time are emblems of love and commitment, representing the past, present, and future. This style has become a classic choice for engagement rings and significant milestones, making it a meaningful addition to any collection.
Typically, a three-stone ring features a captivating central gemstone accompanied by two complementary stones, creating a harmonious balance. The craftsmanship of the era showcased various cuts, including the elegant old European cut for diamonds and unique cuts for coloured stones. Each setting was meticulously designed to enhance the gemstones beauty while ensuring their security.
While yellow gold was the metal of choice during this time, platinum and white gold were also gaining favour, adding a contemporary touch to traditional designs. The intricate detailing found in the metalwork, such as milgrain and engraving, infused each piece with texture and visual intrigue. Many rings also incorporated decorative elements like filigree or floral motifs, reflecting the artistic influences of the Art Nouveau and early Art Deco movements.
The proportions of three-stone rings from this era are thoughtfully balanced, with the central stone slightly raised to draw the eye and create an elegant silhouette. The narrower bands, compared to modern styles, allow the gemstones to shine as the focal point, enhancing their natural beauty.
