Antique Edwardian Diamond Pearl Drop Pendant Necklace

An elegant Edwardian drop pendant necklace, circa 1910, combining delicate craftsmanship with luminous natural pearls and a fine old cut diamond. The central old cut diamond (approx. 0.07 ct, H / SI1) is bezel set in platinum over 15ct yellow gold and sits within a wreath of twelve natural seed pearls (each measuring 2.10 mm). A single 3.00 mm natural pearl sits above, and a further bar drop suspends the lower pearl circlet, creating graceful movement and silhouette.

This piece exemplifies Edwardian taste for airy, refined design: the openwork platinum settings and the slender integral fine link platinum chain are extraordinarily delicate and precisely executed, lending the pendant an understated, wearable elegance. Natural pearls were highly prized in the early 1900s for their soft lustre and rarity, and here they are matched and arranged to striking effect, framing the diamond and amplifying its sparkle.
